Revamping the User Experience for a Leading Web3 Platform

Overview

Oddz Finance is a multi-chain options trading platform offering a seamless experience for users to trade options on decentralized networks. The platform’s functionality was complex, and our goal was to enhance the user experience by simplifying user journeys while maintaining feature richness. My role was to lead the UI/UX revamp of Oddz Finance, focusing on user research, competitor analysis, wireframing, and visual design.

Challenge

The original platform had a steep learning curve due to its complexity in offering multi-chain options. Users, especially the traditional trader coming to DeFi and decentralized trading, found it difficult to navigate and interact with the platform’s features. The challenge was to make the platform more intuitive and user-friendly without compromising the advanced functionalities that experienced users valued.

Our Approach

User Research & Analysis
We began the revamp by conducting thorough user research. This included interviews with existing users, both beginners and experienced traders, as well as gathering feedback from DeFi communities.

Key Insights: Users found the interface cluttered and had difficulty understanding certain features such as staking, liquidity provision, and executing trades.

In addition to user feedback, we performed competitor analysis of other DeFi and trading platforms. This helped identify best practices in simplifying complex interfaces, especially in the crypto space.

Defining the User Journey

With insights from research, I mapped out the user journey for both beginner and advanced users. I identified critical touchpoints where users were facing friction and restructured the flow to minimize confusion.

Simplified the trading process by reducing the number of steps required to execute the first trade.
Provided more customization options for experienced users while ensuring that advanced features were still easy to find and navigate.

User Research & Analysis

Wireframing & Prototyping

Using Figma, I created low-fidelity wireframes to restructure the platform’s navigation and interface. Key changes included:

Dashboard Redesign: Made the dashboard more intuitive by presenting the most critical information up front, such as Chain Switcher, Trading Chart, Pre-defined Options Listing and Prioritizing Custom options for advance trader.
Tooltips & Tutorials: Added interactive tooltips and guided tutorials to assist new users in understanding key functions.

After feedback from stakeholders and users, I moved to high-fidelity prototypes, focusing on creating a seamless visual experience that aligned with Oddz Finance’s brand identity.

Visual Design & Branding

The next phase was the visual design. I worked on enhancing the platform's aesthetics, ensuring that it communicated trust, security, and simplicity while maintaining the bold, innovative feel of the DeFi space.

Created a responsive design to ensure seamless experience across devices, especially mobile, as a significant portion of users preferred accessing the platform via mobile devices.
Refined the color palette to improve readability and contrast, which was a common concern in the original design.

Outcome & Impact

Increased Engagement by 25%: By simplifying key actions and improving navigation, user engagement with the platform's advanced features, such as staking and trading, increased.

Positive Feedback from Users: Advanced users appreciated the customization options and simplified flows, while beginner users found the platform significantly easier to navigate.
Enhanced Brand Perception: The new design elevated Oddz Finance’s brand, positioning it as a more approachable and user-friendly platform in the DeFi space.

Lessons Learned

This project reinforced the importance of user-centered design in complex platforms. By listening to the users and simplifying the interface without sacrificing functionality, we were able to improve both usability and engagement. It also highlighted the critical balance between aesthetics and usability in a high-stakes environment like financial trading.
